Caught in hot weather testing, the prototype of the second-generation Mini Convertible. As with the coupe, the new car is so similar to the old model that it takes a close look to tell them apart.
The slightly larger dimensions of the second generation Mini should help to better store the folding canvas top when it is in open-air mode, and there will be some more room for the rear passengers, too. Unfortunately the blind spot caused by the fabric top’s C-pillar is still quite large, resulting in poor visibility when the top is up.
The new Mini Cabrio is expected to go on sale in spring 2008.
