Hollywood has a strange way of inspiring people. That can be both for the good and for the bad. Sometimes it can just get down right ugly. Still remember how the few years following ‘Hannibal’, number of people killed across America suddenly shot up. Maybe it had nothing to do with the movie, maybe it did. But then on a lighter note the movies can also inspire some strange creativity and some weird stuff. A guy from Colorado has replicated the Ectomobile of the Ghostbusters!
In early October of 2005, the guy apparently went to a midnight showing of Ghostbusters at a local theater with one of his best friends. The guy was obviously taken by the movie and decided to convert his Subaru Outback in to the Ectomobile. The first step was getting light-bars. They found the red, blue, and green lights were all incredibly illegal so they opted for a pair of 36″ light-bars, which I bought for about $430 each. Over the next two weeks they added various tubes, tanks, reflectors, and the red binocs up on top.
After some fine work on the vehicle, the Ectomobile was finally complete. It was apparently a costume that the car sported for Halloween and it is simple a wonderful costume. The car I suppose went out on the Halloween night and captured all the ghosts in the neighborhood. The idea is really cool and maybe next they will go about building the bat-mobile!
