When Tesla Motors first took the veils off of its super green Roadster, it was being hailed as THE eco-drive for the future. But a deadly new aspect of the Tesla has greenpeacers worried. Thanks to a super-silent engine, the Tesla Roadster has already been involved in a number of crashes. Since pedestrians and bicyclists depend on hearing a vehicle to know it’s there, the Tesla’s super-smooth operation poses a real threat on the road.
In fact, there’s even a bill before Congress that would require the Transportation Department to establish safety standards to solve this problem. Hmmm… I wonder if they’ll make it mandatory for the cars to be fitted with distance sensors that can activate a loud honking noise every time a vehicle got too close to the Tesla beauty!
