The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) organizes an annual Super mileage competition in which Engineer Students participate from all over the world. This year the same competition took place on the 9th of June in Marshall Michigan. A total of 40 teams from India, Canada and Us participated in this competition, which were 13 more than the number of participating teams in the preceding year.
If you people have been following the updates of this competition from the past four years, you won’t be surprised to know the winners name, for those who did not, the winners were the Engineering Students from the University of British Columbia who secured their fourth win in as many years.
Last year UBC won the competition by reaching 1,600 miles per gallon, this year they invented a futuristic looking, single occupancy vehicle which does 3,154 miles per US gallon .

Team captain Kevin Li said We achieved this level of efficiency by optimizing many aspects of the vehicle design, including: aerodynamics, light-weight construction, a small displacement engine (54 cc), and conservative driving habits.
