Those heavy, gigantic heavy-duty haulers wouldn’t ever want to go off-road, simply because their weight would get them stuck somewhere or the other, plus navigating a behemoth like that through tough terrains can be very testing. Not so for the Terrain Adventurer long hauler concept from Patrick Clarke, this one would probably enjoy its “off-road” adventure.

The concept has been designed to handle poor road/ off-road conditions and extreme climate. The ten wheel layout of the concept reduces the chances of it getting stuck in the mud or losing grip on steep inclines. If push comes to shove, and the truck does get stuck, a retractable track system at its center can come into play. To combat jackknifing or trailer swing that may occur in extreme climates, the concept uses a sealed rubber section that protects the cables between the trailer and the cab, as well as associated mechanisms.

An oversized windscreen and six headlights ensure that the driver always has a clear view of the road, there’s also an option to extend the cargo area by three meters. The idea for the concept is good, if long-haul truck can cover difficult terrains, they would be handy. To keep up with the massive power requirements the truck will have, the designer envisions power from a 16-l turbo-diesel V8 sourced from Mercedes-Benz.
