Toyota’s Formula-1 racing team has unveiled its new car: the TF106, for the new 2006 racing season. The first phase of 4-day testing session for the new car will be held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. The work on the new TF106 started at the end of 2004.
The TF106 has a new rear end, which has been designed to accommodate Toyota’s latest V8 engine, with a development of the mono-coque and front suspension from its TF105B car that was raced in the last two races of the 2005 season.
The major change for 2006 season has been the implementation of the V8 engine in line with the new technical regulations, which has resulted in the redesigning of the rear end of the car.
The new Toyota RVX-06 V8 engine was tested for the first time a day after the team scored its first podium finish at the Malaysian Grand Prix.
