BMW has joined the hybrid bandwagon with the introduction of a 7 Series hybrid concept car which will debut in the next month’s Paris motor show. It blends the luxury of BMW’s flagship with superior hybrid technology. This new concept car combines a momentous reduction of fuel utilization and emissions with a standard of driving dynamics never seen before even in this class of hybrid cars.

The BMW Concept 7 Series ActiveHybrid is based on a BMW 750i, which is powered by a mighty 300 kW, V8 petrol engine with twin turbochargers and high precision injection. This hybrid car has an untouched petrol engine with the additional support of an electric engine. The electric motor replaces the need for a conventional alternator and also works as the starter motor, minimizing the direct conversion of fuel into electrical energy and maximizing the drive power available for enhanced driving dynamics. Brake regeneration is part of the plan, paired with a high-capacity lithium-ion battery mounted in the trunk. Fuel and emissions ratings have both improved by a respectable 15 per cent compared with the stock 750i. Using Brake Energy Regeneration, the electric motor supplies electric power to the power-consuming items on board the car, minimizing the direct conversion of fuel into electrical energy and maximizing the drive power available for enhanced driving dynamics.

Personally, I feel this concept has a mild similarity with the Toyota Prius, strictly in terms of design! However, this car ensures a significant increase in efficiency without giving up on the high standard of driving dynamics, motor safety and comfort very typical of the automobile brand.

Simplest BMW model when it comes to the kind of cars they are producing. And good for being a race car and hybrid as well. This deserves chilton manual that gives you all the tips and best repair sheets they know. I love the engine and the simplicity of this one. This will be a great deal if ever they’ll sell it.
