Mitsubishi announced today that its all-new Lancer, perhaps the most important product in its ninety year history, will debut at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit come January.

Known as “Project Global,” and already successfully previewed with the
Second generation Outlander. This is a multi-million-dollar project and the company aims to take over the world market and wants to fabricate a car that has a built-in flexibility required, accommodating regional needs and regulations as well.

The car is pitched parallel with market trends and new customer demands in markets as diverse as Japan,
North America, Russia, Asia-Pacific and Europe.

The initial design of this sports sedan features its low stance, long hood/short deck proportions, wide track, trademark “shark nose” and distinctively deep set “eyes” including diesel power, a high performance 2.0
Liter turbo gasoline version and other variants.

This project will also enable the introduction of the “World Engine” family of power plants. Co-engineered with DaimlerChrysler and Hyundai Motor Company.

Mitsubishi is all set to create a landmark in automobile industry.
