Due to the growing awareness of environmental degradation that can be brought about by car-emissions, recent years have seen the creation of quite a few eco-friendly, zero-emission vehicles. Now, Swiss car company Mindset, have also announced their hybrid concept.

Murat Guenak, the former Volkswagen designer had initially laid down the plans of this all-new hybrid car. This stylish car from Mindset sports a futuristic look, and has a pair of gullwing doors, steeped windshield and a long hood. The headlights of the car are circular, just like the sports cars of the 1950s and 1960s.

The Mindset hybrid car has a plastic body and an aluminium spaceframe. The car is 4.2m in length, and has a much lighter powertrain than those usually present in other hybrid vehicles. The relatively low kerb weight of the car (800 kg) and overall lightweight construction allows for the presence of the light powertrain.

This concept runs up to 100 km on a single charge, and is powered by a small electric motor and lithium-ion battery. A small petrol engine, rated at 24 hp, is present for recharging the car-batteries. A roof-mounted solar panel adds to the eco-friendly nature of the car. Although the car is still only at a scale model, its production version is expected to hit the markets by next year. About 10,000 cars are planned to be sold per year, with a sticker price of €50,000.
