You’ve seen how fast a Ferrari can go, now have you seen how loud it can sound? You heard it right, Ferrari has recently launched its much hyped boombox under its David Wiener Ventures license. Called the Art.Engine, it features the same feel of excitement just as driving one of its cars. Art.Engine is the result of a dream inspired by Ferrari’s uncompromising approach to product engineering and style.
Its multiple speaker arrays utilize small low mass carbon fiber speaker cones to achieve dramatic performance improvements in the time taken to reproduce signal impulse. The signal is reproduced without any distortions that are usually found in larger speaker cones. Its got Twin NACA cooling Ducts, the same ones which are found in Ferrari GT and racing cars, that provide air intake for cooling of the electronics build into the Art.Engine. Spiral exit vents on the rear provide for excellent air flow. Also on the upper portion of the Art.Engine you’ll find a 28mm Soft Dome Tweeter with Neodymium Motor, produced by ScanSpeak of Denmark, known all over the world as the leader in Dome Tweeter technology. Its primary signal input is via 802.11 WiFi streaming of music files, though conventional line level sources such as CD players, tuners, iPods and most other portable devices can use the 3.5mm mini jack input found on the speaker. The Frequency response ranges from 40Hz to 20kHz with a maximum SPL level of 112dB at one meter.
The only control button of the Art.Engine is located on the top right of the machine, the Engine Start Power button is designed as to recreate the same excitement and function of the buttons used on select Ferrari road and race cars.
The Art.Engine is said to be only a limited addition, only a 1,000 of these speakers are being made. The Art.Engine speaker is said to cost around $20,000 possibly making it the world’s most expensive boombox to date. The speaker is available in four colors namely Rosso Corsa Red, Argento Nürburgring Silver, Grigio Silverstone Grey and Nero Black.
