
Toyota has unveiled its new Land Cruiser, and it is up for sale in Japan. The Land Cruiser has been redesigned with a body-on-frame design, the new vehicle is 4950mm in length, 1970mm in width, while the height varies between 1865mm and 1910mm depending on the type of suspension used.
The Land Cruiser will be powered by a 4.5L turbo-diesel V8 that will pump out 286hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. Transmission for the diesel version will be a six-speed automatic.
A petrol variant powered by a 4.7L VVT-i V8, with 288hp and 328lb-ft of torque will also be available. It will have a five-speed automatic transmission.
The diesel variant has a fuel economy of 10.2L/100km while the gasoline version will cover 100km in 14.4L, over the European cycle.
A number of gadgets also find room in the new vehicle, including a Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS), Limited Slip Differential (LSD) and the world’s first Crawl system that avoids spinning and locking in extreme off-road conditions. Presence of 14 airbags will ensure passenger safety.
The new Land Cruiser will make a European debut with St-Petersburg Motor Show in October, and sales will start by December this year. There is no information yet, as to when the model will reach American shores.
