honda fcx concept
Before we really start hailing the Honda FCX as a product for the future and get engrossed in appreciating it from its roots, the real purpose of bringing out this product and the depth of its future should be duly mapped.

The FCX is still in the R&D stage but a lot has changed over the past one year and although Honda has taken giant strides in terms of the development of this car there is still no surety whether the Japanese giant wants to really mass produce it or it’s just another attempt to claim another first in the automotive industry.

If we purely trust the company resources, Honda is positive about producing this car at the Tochigi facility and as the final concept meets the FMVSS regulations and the government specified standards, it would roll of the assembly line as just another product.

The criticism regarding the FCX production can also be attributed to the fact that Honda plans to lease out a few of these hydrogen based commuters at $600 a month in Southern California. The competitors see this as a smart PR act which further puts the doubt in their minds whether a mass produced FCX would be ever seen on the roads.

Honda has done well until now to keep all at sea but the carmaker itself has a lot to prove for producing a hydrogen based car is one thing but a bigger problem is to find those hydrogen filling stations and those who opt to buy the FCX would definitely need another commuter for the longer journeys.
