skoda fabia sport
The Czech carmaker Skoda has added another variant to its already popular Fabia in the UK. Dubbed the Fabia Sport, the new small car gets a new front spoiler, a chrome exhaust pipe, rear diffuser and 16-inch alloys to give the word sport a real meaning.

The new model is available in four engine variants, two being petrol and the other two being diesel. The Sportier additives make the car look more aggressive and purpose oriented than the existing Fabia versions.

What is pleasing to know is the pricing which is anything but reasonable. The 70 hp 1.2 litre 12v version starts at £10,660, while the 105 hp 1.6 litre 16v version has a starting price tag of £11,735.

The two diesel versions available start at £12,115 for the 80 hp 1.4 TDI and £12,795 for the 105 hp 1.9TDI. Launched to compete with the likes of Ford Fiesta Zetec S and Vauxhalls Corsa SXi, the customers would get the first taste of the Fabia Sport next January

Head of Škoda UK, Chris Craft, said:

There’s a proven appetite among British buyers for sporty looking cars that don’t come with the added expense of a big engine. The Fabia Sport looks fantastic, but won’t break the bank when it comes to insurance premiums and fuel bills - which is particularly pertinent at the moment.

It would be interesting to see how the English react to this new sporty yet small car and especially with two diesel variants on the cards; the package won’t be all that bad.
