‘Welcome to the future’ is the most done-to-death cliche. However, there is so much happening in the ‘future technology’ space that we can’t help being amazed at the pace at which the gap between fact and fiction is being plugged. Talk about safety, parking hassles, functionality and aesthetics on the same platter and we have a paper concept. Not any more....Truly heralding the future of automotives, the ‘Solid’ exemplifies everything that fiction represents. Maneuverability would never be an issue, not even for bumper-kissing novices, as the car incorporates individually turn-able elements on the front as well as the rear. Solidity, though, hasn’t been compromised as the special ‘bumpers’ are built for ultimate crash-proof ability. And with standard protection like safety-belts and airbags, you would be as safe as in a security vault.
Designed by Nikita Gutsalenko, a fifth year student of Product Design and Transport Design at the Ural State Academy of Architecture and Arts, Russia, the ‘Solid’ also features a deformation-proof design, where the chassis is supported by a frame ring. Approach sensors on the wheel activate the auto brake system to prevent accidents, while airbags on the wheels ensure that the car is the epitome of reliability. A display in the interior takes care of the eyeballs. A complete package, as they say! Visit the gallery for a peep into what the future holds for the wheel-addicts.
