Ford Fiesta has received a generous facelift and a delightfully trendy look. The new car will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show and will have the new Kuga 4×4 and the facelifted Focus for company.

Insiders still refer to it as the B-car concept, the model shows how the new Fiesta will look when it reaches showrooms in mid-2008. The new supermini has taken cues from the latest Mondeo and the S-MAX for the hot new look.

Ford of Europe’s executive director of design Martin Smith played an active role for the rollout of this design. The front showcases a big trapezoidal air intake with a chrome two-bar grille above it, edges of the headlights extend upto nearly the wheel arches. More on the design are sculpted flanks and a rising waistline; there’s a sunroof as well.

Striking feature of the rear are the lights placed between the tailgate and the window line. Together with a sweeping shoulder line, they give a radiant look.

The model that reaches the roads is not expected to be an exact replica of this car. Most likely, the front grille will be toned down and rims will replace the alloys wheels. These however, are small changes and will be barely noticeable in the model that arrives in the market.

A wide range of engines is expected for the new car. Petrol engines are likely to be the 1.3, 1.6 and 1.8-litre Duratec SCi direct-injection engines. The diesel variants will be powered by 1.4 and 1.6L TDCi engines. The TDCi engines have been co-developed by Ford and PSA Peugeot Citroen.

These stunning looks however, don’t take the Fiesta above competition in its range. In the market, Fiesta will face Fiat Grande Punto, Skoda Fabia and Vauxhall Corsa, all of whom have attractive looks.
