The fitting room in the stores is one of the most annoying things ever and I mean that when you go along with your girl to shop. She goes in and out, in and out and in and out... It sometimes becomes a never ending exercise that only ends with moving on the next store and trying out the next set of clothes. Maybe it is not always that bad, but it is a lot better invention when the choices to try on are limited. In the case of a fitting room for a car, the options might not be that varied and the mind may not be that fickle.

Chevrolet has launched what it claims to be the world’s first drive-in fitting room for those looking to buy a new car. Visitors to the company’s Phoenix Wimbledon site can check out what they look like when behind the wheel of their potential new vehicle in a special curtained-off area. Motorists can then see how they look from all angles using a remote control platform.

I have always preferred to classify the automobile purchaser in to the motorhead, who knows everything and a lot more and the guy who just wants to own a car and the technical data is not too important for him. Both for the casual customer and the more knowledgeable one, it is the looks and the style of the car that are the most important. At the end of the day, people who do not take a look at the poster will never go through the make.

According to the company, you wouldn’t dream of buying a dress or suit without trying it on first so why should it be any different when it comes to buying a car? Well that is pretty sound logic to go by and buy I guess. But its till will be interesting to see if the trend catches on. I do like the idea and the execution though.
