Toyota and Lexus have been singled out by UK’s 4×4 & MPV Driver magazine, to receive the first Gold Award for Green 4×4s. Such honor is granted to companies for innovating 4×4s, by reducing emissions, improving fuel economy and introducing new environmental concepts.



Lexus was granted this title for its hybrid RX 400h SUV as it delivers a classy performance, low emissions levels and fuel economy.



For Toyota, the new RAV4 T180 was the winning factor. By using Toyota D-CAT technology, the car achieves extremely low levels of particulates and nitrogen oxides emissions already meeting the proposed 2010 emissions standards. In addition to this, Toyota won the accolade for its investment in developing hybrid fuel cell technology and the FCHV-5, a US version Highlander that can create its own hydrogen fuel on board.
