How often do I mention that the Non-Americans (automotive companies) are ruling the roost in the US. The US manufacturers have nobody to blame than themselves. Very recently, the US Insurance Companies Organization condemned the US made Cars for not incorporating Electronic Stability Control as a standard feature, which indeed marred their chances of winning any award in the safest category vehicles organized by the same.

Whatever is the scenario but we cannot take any credit away from the Japanese automakers who are performing radiantly in the non-domestic markets. Toyota’s Camry, which is the most popular car model sold in the US, has been awarded as the ‘Car of The Year’ by Motor Trend. Just to add to my verdict, Last year the redesigned Honda Civic bagged this award.

Camry toppled six US and nine Japanese Competitors to bag this coveted title. Angus Mackenzie, editor in chief of Motor Trend quoted:

Creating an innovative, engaging automobile with broad mainstream appeal is one of the toughest tasks facing any automaker .

The Camry is the one car rival automakers all wish they could build. It offers something for nearly everyone -performance, efficiency, and roominess - at a price point most Americans can afford.

The only possible way an American car can bag an award is, if the awards are categorically divided into foreign and domestic entrants otherwise, looking at the US automakers current state it is a certainty that no award will be added to their pergola !
