toyota ft 86 concept

Toyobaru, Toyota-Subaru or whatever, the joint sports car project of the two companies has just been unveiled, and it is called the Toyota FT-86. This 163.7-inches long car, with a wheelbase of 101.2 inches is slightly shorter than the Nissan 370Z, but the two cars do have a very slight similarity in their looks. With the two companies working together, the concept has a common chassis and parts.

It is likely to get 2.0-l four-cylinder boxer engine, the “C-45 boxer.” This engine generates 200hp to 250hp and will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission channeling power to the rear wheels. Unlike most of the new cars unveiled these days, the FT-86 concept does not flaunt any electric/ hybrid system. They must have kept the emissions low, but there is no electric system on this one.

While the exterior of the car may not change much (if) when it makes its production debut, the interior will most likely be retouched. And that change will most likely be the disappearance of all those zips around the dash. Scroll down for more images, and a video of the FT-86 in GT5.
