Reports from the U.S. suggest the king of reliability, Toyota, is starting to lose some of its thunder whereas Asian makes continue to beat US rivals in the latest annual survey of vehicle reliability from Consumer Reports.
Toyota’s scores are falling while Ford is said to be making its most reliable vehicles in years. Honda and its luxury nameplate Acura topped this year’s list. Toyota on the other hand slipped out of the number 1 spot all the way down to fifth place.
In the most recent reliability survey, 93 percent of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles showed better reliability. Ford’s Mercury brand came in 11th; the Ford brand itself came in 13th and the Lincoln luxury brand ranked 14th. Overall, 41 of Ford’s 44 models scored average or better in the predicted reliability survey.
And finally, Honda came in number one followed by Acura, Scion and Subaru. Surprisingly, for the very first time in history, Toyota Camry V6 is not suggested by the Consumer Reports.
