Toyota’s vehicle with a strange name, the ‘ist’ has received a makeover. Sold in the US markets as Scion xD, the new ist isn’t coming to the US right away. The compact hatchback is currently available in Japan through ‘Netz’ dealers.
Second generation ist comes with the mantra ‘new style, new position’. This crossover combines 1.8-liter hatchback with an SUV. Exterior dimensions are small enough, the length is less than 4meters with a width of 1.7meters tagged along with 16-inch wheels.
It’s not just the design that has the makeover, the engine has been changed as well. The new ist comes with options of 1.5 liter and 1.8liter engines, ensuring more power and better performance than its predecessor.
And of course, the new models come equipped with SRS side and curtain shield airbags that have been made standard in all new models from Toyota. The newly developed active headrest will also be present in this car.
The new ist is priced between $13,950 for 1.5L with CVT-i to $15,900 for a 1.8L with Super ECT.
