Australian inventor Phillip James has developed the TVA Gazelle, a vehicle that mixes the convenience of a motorcycle with the safety of a car to offer its user the best of both worlds. For this, he uses the conventional four wheel layout of a car with the narrow two seat design of conventional motorcycles. For safety, the TVA Gazelle features a completely enclosed cabin. Before you start to think that this yet another hybrid design, wait till you hear this. You can play Colin Mcrae in the TVA Gazelle or rather it will play Colin Mcrae for you. Confused?
The TVA Gazelle features a revolutionary steering system which is directly connected to the tilt angle. To turn, you will need to tilt your body. This means that, you will never oversteer as you won’t have direct control with the front wheels. Though this sounds crazy, this system actually works as the Gazelle’s steering will naturally apply opposite lock if things get out of hand, just like WRC champions. Now, that explains the Mcrae connection. This hybrid will also go more than 100 miles per gallon and cost less than $10,000. Determined to prove that his concept works, Phillip is gunning for the $10 million X-Prize offered by Progressive Automotive for commercially feasible vehicles delivering more than 100mpg.
