Here is a new technology from Mercedes that will do its utmost to protect owners from being involved ever again in car collisions. Hailed as the successor to Bluetooth, the Ultra Wide Band (UWB) comes with anti-collision radars to locate how close the Mercedes S-Class sedan it is installed in is to the other cars on the road. The device works by sending and recording millions of radio waves forward every second. Recording the speed of the car in a computer where all the data is, the device automatically hits the brakes if it senses that the car is near to colliding with something.
Ultra Wide Band can be used for high-speed data transfer between PCs and peripherals, ground-penetrating radar, and medical imaging also.
The device costs $6570 and the first Mercedes-Benz cars with this anti-collision radars arrived in New Zealand last week. It also happens to be the first use of the Ultra Wide Band technology in the country.
