space up blue
Volkswagen Up! concept, which was displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and later in a new form as the Space Up! in Tokyo, has now adorned an eco-friendly avatar at the Los Angeles Show, the Space Up! blue.

Presence of roof windows on this concept is a clear give-away to its inspiration, the classic Samba bus. Zero emission Space Up! blue is powered by an array of Lithium ion batteries and high temperature fuel cells.

The 45KW electric motor in the concept can cover a full 65miles, and with cutting edge technology, the high-temperature fuel cells stepping in, the range is extended by a further 155miles. Batteries can be charged via a standard electrical outlet, and the solar panels on the roof acting as a 150-Watt source of energy for the battery.

Space Up! blue is like its predecessors when it comes to size; the concept is compact with just 144.9 inches of length and 64.2 inches in width, but remains spacious despite carrying the fuel cell and Lithium-ion batteries.
