Barely weeks after the debut of the Up! at Frankfurt, Volkswagen has added a new member to the ‘new small family’. Space Up! is a minivan version of the Up!, which makes it 23 cm longer, 4cm taller and with a longer wheelbase than the up!
This vehicle has four doors and boasts of 220 to 1,005 liters of cargo space and four seat positions that are multivariable in design. The cockpit features an intuitive interface via touchscreen with 3D graphics and a proximity sensor. Volkswagen sees the intuitive interface as a big step forward, with a number of interfaces and options that will make driving better, safer and more fun.
Space Up! has its engine in the rear of the car as in the Up!, and the same ’smiling face’ front end. The production version will feature eco-friendly gasoline, electric and diesel powertrains, and may land in dealerships by 2010.
