Urwerk’s new watch, the King Cobra UR-CC1 was created after three years of research, and the most innovative factor is perhaps the way the watch displays time through its retrograde linear displays. The dial is very similar to speedometers from cars of the 60s and the watch manages to keep a track on time without losing accuracy.
As the minute hand reaches the 60 minutes mark, a vertical triple-cam operating a rack and rotating a minute cylinder, pulls the hand back to the zero minutes mark in 1/10 seconds. This retrograde movement of the minute hand pushes the hour hand and moves it an hour forward. The construction is simple and light, yet rugged. No word on pricing or availability yet.
