
The results are out and the verdict has gone squarely in favor of Vauxhall Insignia. GM’s car now wears the crown of the European Car of the Year 2009. Insignia beats Ford Fiesta in a close contest to win the award, gaining votes from 20 jurors while the Fiesta was favored by 19 jurors. The Insignia ended up with 321 points, while Ford’s Fiesta ran out at 320 points.
Sitting at the third spot, but quite far from the crown is the VW Golf with 223 points. Other finalists included Citroen C5, Alfa Romeo MiTo, Skoda Superb and the Renault Megane.
