Volkswagen’s Touareg SUV range has been expanded to include a more environment friendly option, one powered by the BlueMotion technology. The Touareg now comes with a V6 TDi Blue Motion that promises 10 percent fuel savings, translating into an efficiency of 8.3 liters of diesel for 100 kilometers, which is very nearly a 34mpg (UK) efficiency.
The engine develops power at 225 hp which is transferred to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. The automaker also plans a hybrid version of the Touareg, and while this will get lower fuel economy (31.4mpg) its output power stands a lot higher at 374hp. The V6 TDI model is available for €50,450.
