It is interesting that people are swapping engines at will to make sure that they get the right performance and the desired look from every vehicle. If of course is not that simple and cannot be handled by everyone. Last week I did come across someone who managed to fit a brand new V8 engine in to a Lotus Esprit to make sure that his wonderful car is updated to the latest powered source. This phenomenon just goes to show that the modern auto consumer is not satisfied with something easily and always wants the best possible combination.
The owner of a modified Volkswagen Bus T3 –also known as the Vanagon in the U.S. and as the Transporter or Caravelle in Europe, decided to spice up his van by swapping the standard engine for a Subaru WRX sourced, turbocharged boxer unit. The machine is obviously same as the old one or the original one, but what you get under your feet changes drastically. The new vehicle would obviously have the extra kick and would torque it up several notches from the older, original version.

According to the owner of the vehicle Erik, the Dyno showed 227.2 Hp at 6500 rpm and 216.6 lbs-ft of toque at 4,500 rpm at the van’s rear wheels. Apart from the Subaru boxer engine, Erik has also been fitted the VW Bus with a set of 18-inch Porsche alloy wheels along with Porsche sourced 4-piston Brembo brakes up front. This makes the car a lot more posh and I guess it gives him the feel of riding three cars at the same time and that too in a jumbo style.
