The tradition and the concept of Volkswagen is what this wonderful concept car wishes to keep up and it seems that in sheer design and space available on the inside, the VW T1 Concept does do that to a very large extent. If you ask me, it actually goes one step further and gives the whole thing a very modern and cool look. The car apparently is designed for the ‘Up! Family’ and it is understandable that this is all about staying up and partying on that special trip to the beach.
Designed by Dmitry Gontarevthe product though seems to have a look of a car that I have seen in the past. I might be untrained at spotting the tiny differences, but this looks like the Wagon-R of Suzuki to me. At least the external has a very close resemblance to it. I’m not suggesting that it has been inspired by it as it could be just sheer coincidence.
The car has a pretty good feel to it and is more solid than extraordinary in any of the aspects. Being a family car, that will more than do for me. But I still do not find it all that new or exciting and again there is that eternal question of what lies under the hood!
