Volkswagen has gone into gear to add another one for its intelligent DSG automatic gearbox, which now has seven gears. The new 7-speed DSG is available for the Golf and Golf Plus 1.4 TSI (90 KW) and 1.9 TDI (77 KW) engines. Starting price for the new gearbox will be €1,750.
The seven-speed DSG has two major features, it is the first DSG for front traverse installation and its clutch is not immersed in oil, but runs ‘dry’. Maximum torque rating stands at 250Nm. Hill-start assist is standard for this component. The new system also provides a better fuel efficiency as compared to the six-speed DSG.
