Volvo Special Vehicles is unveiling the all new generation of Volvo V70 in ‘police uniform’ for the Swedish police at the annual police conference in Stockholm at the end of September.
The police version has been noticeably customized with features such as a reinforced and specially adapted chassis, brakes and wheels, an enhanced electrical system and an ergonomic working environment for the Swedish police. All this has been very well kept in mind so as to handle the demanding operating conditions to which the cars are subjected every day when responding to emergencies.
The Swedish police have precisely chosen the Volvo’s well-known and energy-efficient D5 diesel engine with its power output of 185 hp. Furthermore, next year will see the introduction of the new 200 hp 2.5 FT Flexi-fuel (E85) version as an environmentally optimized option for the police.
Very first of the new Volvo V70 police cars will be delivered in January 2008 while later in 2008 Volvo’s four-wheel-drive XC70 will also be produced in a police version.
