I have been stressing on the fact that revealing images before a cars slated debut has quite become a trend off- late and this trend is gaining grounds courtesy of a twin-prong trait. Sometimes the carmakers do it intentionally to gain publicity and when you have the complete pictures available before the scheduled unveiling, it is the work of the people who somehow manage to attain pictures in order to up boost personal publicity.

Whatever the scenario at least we get a lot of material to add spice before the vehicles unveiling. The latest to be tainted by this unhealthy infection is the XC 60 from Volvo. We know that the XC60 will be debuted at the Detroit Auto Show in Jan but even prior to that, we have the complete pictures available.

The XC60 is scheduled for a debut as a prototype but the images clearly portray a message that the production version won’t differ much from the prototype. The XC60 concept is based on the Land Rover LR2 platform which means it will posses partial off-road capabilities.

I do not know whether Volvo was involved in this untimely leakage of images ,but then, even if it was not, it is something all car makers should take care off : limited initial publicity does spice up the debuts but if you have people hacking images like in this case, it in turn dents the publicity process ‘which clearly means it is high-time that the Car makers have officials designated to check this faulty practice ‘. Even if they wish to furnish the public with an initial glimpse of their car, it should be thoroughly initiated by the company itself not by a nerdy set of spies who foul the entire affair.
