The Beast:
Volvo’s DRIVe C30, S40 and C50 boast efficient diesel-powered engines. The beasts not only are fuel-efficient but also look sleek and ergonomic. The wide doors and windows allow better movement and are sure to attract a lot of attention.
The Machine:
They all have a 1.6 L turbo-diesel four mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The engines may not be new but they definitely are unique. The designers have paid a lot of attention to the aerodynamics and you can definitely expect it to look and feel good, and also function well. Since the car has a reduced rolling resistance, it also means that the tires have to be ultra sturdy and they are, which is a great thing. It will be launched in European showrooms in January 2009.
The Thrill:
The most thrilling aspect of this car is that the equipment needs only a 150 to 450 Euro premium for the standard 1.6 L diesel motor. This must make a number of Volvo customers smile.
