We all like long drives, but we agree that it is not an easy task to be professional drivers and driving for hours at a stretch. If not everyone then at least Volvo cares for you. One of its latest safety features alerts you when you badly need to take a coffee break.
Keeping road safety in mind and advocating for making driving more enjoyable, Volvo has lately introduced a series of radar and camera based safety features, specifically made for its 2008 Volvo V70, XC70, and S80 models. Other than its Blind-Spot Information System, which alerts the drivers of the vehicles that it has in its either sides, the new set of features include Driver Alert Control, Tourist Alert Control, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Warning.
Driver Alert control is a like a reminder sort of a thing that reminds you that you are ready to take a cup of coffee. This system operates by monitoring the vehicle’s position with regard to the lane markings and if the driver seems to be driving at a constant position for some time, it sends out a message telling the driver to take a break. This system can be revamped to the Tourist Alert Control to alert the driver to pull out to a side while traveling very slowly and hampering the speed of the following vehicles. To alert you with the safe distance between you and the other vehicles on the road, the Adaptive Cruise Control uses a radar based system that lets you slow down your speed and maintain a safe distance with the other vehicles. The Lane Departure Warning alerts you in case you drift from one lane to the other without signals.
Volvo has been successful with its past endeavors in guarantying a safe journey. So, we can hope that these radar and camera based features also help us fight the increasing number of deaths in fatal road accidents.
