The VW V10 TDI engine powered Touareg is undoubtedly a monster at heart and none of us can disagree. Forget our approval or denial, VW was itself desperate to test Touareg’s ability by demonstrating a mammoth exploit. I wonder why they did not name it Towareg!

VW demonstrated the muscle of The Diesel version Touareg by dragging a Boeing 747. The Hurricane task performer was made to look like the next gen. Touareg as it adorned similar body panels, ‘probably a promotional tact’.

It did require few modifications as it was made heavier with an additional ballast weight of 7,030 Kg. The conventional V10 axle was replaced by a Touareg V8’s 4.5 axle, which incidentally proved futile as the feat was achieved on the second gear.

A special tow adapter was used to tie-up both the entities ultimately resulting in the Touareg pulling the 155 ton Boeing to a distance of 150 meters at 5 miles per hour before inadvertently slowing down ,followed by the plane stopping with its stock brakes .

It wasn’t much of a scrap as the VW Touareg achieved success effortlessly embalming this feat as a sheer waste of time. We already know it is a monster on road so why prove it. The only logic one can draw from this is the task performer disguised as the upcoming version, which was a witty publicity move.
