Automobile is making giant steps forward with changing both its technological aspects and also the exterior design. While modern cars are such a rave, it still leaves the old convertibles with a sense of appeal that is almost irreplaceable. Then what is the entire rave about the new concept car of Webasto? Now much really. The car does not have anything outstanding in terms of either the latest technological specifications or hybrid fuel usage. It still is like a hooded emperor and carries the charm of an old convertible with some amount of modernity.
This convertible car designed by Italian IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) and inspired by the Fiat 124 Sport Spider from the 1970s. Webasto LigHT concept features lightweight soft top concept which made from new material mix and weight of just 13 kg. Under the motto “The roof of the future”, the potential designers had the opportunity to unleash their fantasy and develop studies beyond the classic convertible body styles. Webasto will display LigHT concept car at Geneva Motor Show 2008.

The car surely has the retro feel to it and it offers a look that is missing in the more modern cars. The ‘Light’ is not much of a new light shining on the horizon, but it still makes plenty of sense in regards to its unique look. It does not have too much of a competition in its category apart from the really big guns like Ferrari. So I suppose the venture is still a good bet.
