With a serious plan of fighting with the Lamborghini Gallardo and the Ferrari 360 Modena, Mercedes Benz offered the P8 concept. Surprisingly the design gave a semblance of the famed speed devil Buggati Veyron but all these were speculations and design renderings so without just criticizing the German manufacturer lets just talk about the prevalent rumors.
Speculations reveal that P8 will be powered by V8 6.3 liter engine, also used in the future models. Optimistically, it should spawn 500hp with a more powerful twin turbocharged model available. When it comes to the pricing, it definitely will have some minuses in comparison with Modena and Gallardo (over $450,000).
The safety features on the car, particularly the front, side and curtain airbags adds icing to the cake. It also features Pre-Safe system, that avoids the crash and, if it fails, it prepares the car for it.
Sadly, the car has not been approved by the Mercedes and McLaren board members. If at all the company has serious plans to bring out a supercar, its high-time they should make it public otherwise all the hype that the Merc. Moniker wearing supercar created would turn into critical dagger against the company itself.
If it’s a realistic proposal, the challenge would be make a car that is different in appearance and that for me ids the toughest part as there is limited designing scope for aero dynamism plays a vital role, time for Merc to answer the critics.
