After May 1981 incident, people will go to great lengths to prevent another Agca from harming the Pope. I said anything and that is just what automakers around the world are vying for. Volkswagen, Audi and BMW are all waiting for a word from the Vatican - waiting to offer a contract to build his armored Popemobile.

Will the Pope carry on his predecessor’s choice and choose Mercedes-Benz ML 430 series? Or will he opt for Audi’s Bavarian? Maybe, BMW’s custom-made just for the Pope X5 SUV will be too tempting. But from what I can gather, I believe Volkswagen’s Fahrvergnugen would be the winner. After all -VW is the World Youth Day’s official automobile sponsor to be held in Cologne, which the Pope will be attending in August.
