Posting about the world’s largest grill activated my salivary glands and now this hot dog shaped vehicle is making my tummy growl for a real hot dog in my mouth. Yumm cannot wait till I finish my post and rush to the nearest vendor. The Wienermobile” is an automobile shaped like a hot dog on a bun. Invented in 1936, it is used to promote and advertise Oscar Mayer products. Since then it has been redesigned six times. But today we are going to talk of this particular 1995 Wienermobile model which was created by world-renowned automobile designer Harry Bradley. Soaring at 27 feet long and 11 feet high it can travel in excess of 90 miles per hour! Each Wienermobile in the fleet has its own identity and this one bears the license plate BIG BUN. The hot dog theme is apparent throughout the vehicle. The hot dog shaped dashboard, mustard and ketchup colored seats a computerized condiment control panel, a sun oops bun roof….et all.

Before you forget that it’s actually a vehicle, here is a list of its techie part. The custom-made fiberglass Hot Dog rests on a lightly toasted bun. It features a Chevrolet W4 Series chassis and is powered by a V-8, 6.0 liter 350 Vortec 5700 engine. The 32.1 gallon fuel tank provides the necessary juice.
And this yummy automobile also has a few moives up its sleeve. It has appeared in two movies, “Ladybugs” starring Rodney Dangerfield and “Another You” starring Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder. And while hot dogs are considered as American as baseball and apple pie, Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs are enjoyed in other countries as is the Wienermobile, which you’ll see touring Canada, Japan and Spain!
