Apparently, the makers of this truck claim that it is inspired by the Ford truck of 1915 and to be honest I have no clue about times so long gone. So I will do the wise thing and just take their word for it. Even that considered, it is still a pretty wild name to have for an automobile. The only time I heard about a Turkey was in regards to Thanksgiving and even then it had to do more with dining than driving. This though has a very cartoonish look to it. But let that not take away from the seriousness.
Doug Weigel’s “Wild Turkey Express” is vehicle that hauled home some serious gold from two big indoor shows this year, and was invited to Blackie Gejeian’s Fresno Autorama as a result. The Wild Turkey Express is a study in creative fabrication. The entire truck is hand-built and has nothing from Ford on it. Among the items not crafted in Weigle’s shop was the 350 Chevy-based power train.

So why do they call it ‘Wild Turkey Express’? Well, apparently it was going to be a school truck before they abandoned that plan and called it ‘wild turkey’. Now that is indeed a convincing story and makes perfect sense. No really, it still makes no sense at all. But why do I care, they made it and so they can name it anything.
