personal rapid transport at heathrow
Queues at one of the busiest terminals in the world, Heathrow will begin to diminish with the advent of a Personal Rapid Transport System. The PRT is a fleet of eighteen driverless pods moving at speeds of upto 25mph and ferrying passengers at terminal five between their cars and terminal check in.

There are big claims to go with this pod, the authorities claim commuters will not have to wait for more than 18 seconds for their driverless ride to the terminal. This system from Advanced Transport Systems Ltd. is likely to find more applications as cities grapple to find substitute transport inside city centers. This system is also eco-friendly with zero emissions and less energy consumption as compared to conventional bus systems.

With a need for individual guide ways different from roads and walkways, the inventors concede that the system cannot exactly be a standalone system, but can effectively complement existing systems.
