Garnet Hertz of the Pasadena Art Center College of Design is busy pushing the limits of cool with his Sega OutRun arcade cabinet, and this one can actually “run.” The drivable cabinet is modeled after the Ferrari Testarossa, and is built on a EVT America Electric Trike.

This may sound cyborg-like business, but it is quite a breakthrough in prosthetic technology. Christian Kandlbauer lost both arms in an accident two years ago, and was given thought-controlled prosthetic arms. Now, German companies Otto Block and Paravan have come together and created a system that lets Christian drive a car.

BMW has unveiled the Motorrad Concept 6, a motorcycle powered by a straight six-cylinder engine that BMW sees joining the K-series lineup in the “foreseeable future.” Racing or production use of motorcycles with straight-six engines has been very limited, but BMW hopes that its new “dynamic and compact” engine will be able to score a breakthrough.

The SPHINX supercar concept from Iranian designer Behzad Hormoz takes inspiration from the rich cultural heritage and ancient history of the country. The design inspiration comes from the stone creatures at Persepolis. As made famous by the Sphinx at Giza, the sphinx statues are a mix of several animals.

Bugatti’s new supercar, the 16C Galibier first came in front of the camera at a private event held alongside the Frankfurt Motor Show, and this time, Bugatti has released more images of the upcoming supercar. The coming of these images has also sparked speculation that the car will make its public debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, though there is no word on the issue from Bugatti itself.

Plenty of available space is the selling point for the Mercedes E-Class wagon, or for that matter, any such car. To drive that point home, Mercedes has this video up to show just how well the E-Class estate can handle 1300 feet of slot car track. And 1300 feet of slot car track sure looks amazing.

The new BMW 5-series is set for an unveiling on November 23, and BMW has started off with a series of teasers to make the playground warm for the welcome of the new sedan. The teaser video shows a silhouette of the new sedan created using a kinetic sculpture from the BMW museum. Well, it doesn’t show much of the car, but the teaser vid itself is interesting to watch, and worth the 46 seconds runtime. Video after the jump.

Once upon a time, iPhones controlling cars while acting as remote controls was a novelty and interesting sight to behold. It isn’t any less cool now, but with a number of iPhone hacks and apps doing the same thing, it has lost the “interest” factor by some measure. The video shows an Oldsmobile Delta being controlled by an iPhone.

The Vespa Piaggio 1+1 generation concept was created by designer Davide Panarella working together with Gino Finizio and Miguel Galluzzi (Ducati Monster’s designer). Created for the Domus Academy, the concept aims to study the shape a Vespa of the present may take, while retaining its features of the classic retro scooter.
