His love for the vintage Pan Am first-class cabin prompted Anthony Toth to build one for himself, in his garage. Built like the cabins the airline used in the late ‘70s and 80s, Anthony’s garage-made first class cabin has pairs of red and blue reclining seats, luggage bins and a curved red carpeted staircase.

A lot of heat is generated in a car’s engine, and while much of it is used to propel the vehicle, a large amount of heat does go waste and escape with the exhaust gases. GM is creating a system to capture this exhaust heat and convert it into usable energy. There have been many attempts in a similar direction, but GM seems to be leading the pack.

A couple of weeks back, we had a look at the Laminar concept, and designer Daniel Fitzgerald has now created an updated version of the said concept in the form of the Laminar 2. Like its predecessor, the Laminar 2 is created for an urban family of three, for the year 2020, and it retains the impressive adjustable aerodynamics of the previous version. The new design however, has a number of goodies to show, and there’s a definite improvement in design with the concept getting more “mature.”

The Maserati Kuba x-over concept from designer Andrey Trofimchuk envisions what an SUV from Maserati may look like, if they every built one. Maserati currently does not have an SUV in its lineup, and apparently, there aren’t any plans to build one either. Even though the idea of a Maserati SUV may not please a whole lot of people, Andrey’s design project does a good job at combining Maserati’s design language into an SUV form.

We’ve seen a fair number of motorcycles powered by mighty engines like the V8, but the Kickboxer concept stands out simply because of the work put in by Ian McElroy for creating these renderings. As you may have already guessed, the motorcycle is built around the powerful engine of the Subaru WRX.

Conventionally, navigation devices have worked by giving the user visual directions, this one however, is more of an ear-pulling thing that will guide the user by tugging gently at the ears. The wearer will be made aware of the directions through this “ear pulling,” which the manufacturers found to be more efficient and lighter than the conventional hand/arm pseudo pulling force method. The lightweight device could actually find a wide range of applications, even for the visually impaired.

Created by Nissan and AIST, this concept personal mobility device is inspired in ways, by the function and movement of skis. To make them more practical however, the device does away with the long skis and instead stays content with two footboards, each supported by a pair of wheels. While this may sound more like rollerskating than skiing, the addition of handlebars to help the user maintain balance is what brings the effect of skiing.

The desire of British aviation enthusiasts to build and fly the replica of the century old first British triplane seems to have hit the roadblock due to safety concerns. The original triplane was made of wood, cotton, paper, bicycle wheels and was propelled by a 9hp motor.

The Mercedes Synergy concept from designer Sylvain Wehnert was created with the aim of combining the environment and the emotions. To meet these requirements, the design has gone bionic, with special emphasis on vertebrates.
